David Sharpley – Group Head of Business Virtumed
With 16 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry David joined Virtumed with a wealth of industry knowledge.
After completing his specialist management and representative training diploma in 2004, David, in 2006, went on to work for one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world as a professional sales representative responsible for the cardiovascular portfolio which included the number one prescribed statin and antihypertensive medication in the world.
Within 3 years he was recognised as key talent and in 2011 promoted to Regional Sales Manager. During this time, he managed various regions (KZN/EC/WC/FS) detail and retail portfolios including Cardiovascular, Men and Woman’s Health, Pain, CNS, Corticosteroids and Anti-Infectives.
To mention but a few of his many achievements, in 2020 and 2021, under David’s leadership, He and his team went on to achieve Professional Sales Representative, team and Manager of the year for all portfolios.
He is highly skilled at managing cross-functional business requirements leveraging all available resources to achieve the best possible outcomes.
At the absolute core of his values are Trust, honesty, transparency, integrity, and respect. He prides himself on his ability to grow others, to unlock their true potential and create extraordinarily successful, entrepreneurial and solution orientated teams. He measures his success by the success of those around him.
Being in the healthcare industry brings him an enthusiastic sense of pride but also understands that with this comes the responsibility to always act ethically and always put the interest and wellbeing of the patients first., He is a family-oriented man, a proud father of twins Connor and Makenzie, married for 13 years and extremely close to his family and friends.
